Tampa Bay - A Super Place to Live

Look for some billboards along Hillsborough County's highways and byways promoting the area as a great place to live. The billboards will up this week with the message, "Tampa Bay, a Super place to live". The website myfloridahomesmls.com is also featured prominently.

The billboards are a joint effort of the Greater Tampa Association of Realtors (GTAR) and Mid-Florida regional MLS. The boards were designed and produced by the Tampa advertising firm Guckenberger and Associates.

Hillsborough Real Estate Stats

Home sales in Hillsborough County showed a few positive signs in the latest figures released by the Greater Tampa Association of Realtors. During December, sales reached 1,207, which is an increase of 171 over November. It also represents and increase year-to-year, as sales totaled 1,099 in the previous December. Other positive news is the monthly inventory of homes on the market decreased to 17,650 or 14.62 months from 19,354 or 17.61 months just one month earlier. The December inventory is the lowest total in the county in two years. (December, 2006 inventory was 17,154).

On the negative side, the average sales price of a home decreased significantly in 2008. The average sales price in December 2008 was $186,297, down from $267,117 a year earlier.
